Day 1275 – It’s Bad. It’s Sad. OMG, I Can’t Stop Laughing

108 Days until the election on November 3rd

188 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

I have never watched The Office. I don’t get the humor. I don’t particularly like Steve Carell. The humor is the kind that is based on making you uncomfortable and I don’t like that. But …

We watched a Late Show with Trevor Noah and we had it tape 30 minutes over. I guess we did that during football season and never changed it.

The Office came on. Steve Carell must have left because there was a guy who looked like Steve in his role. (Clever, how I figured that out eh?) So we didn’t turn it off when Trevor was over. We just sat there like lumps and watched.

It started with a possibly uncomfortable premise. The Steve Carell look a-like wanted to hold a tea party with his staff to honor their boss. Why? Oh he said he didn’t have any reason. Actually, he did. His brother had held one for his parents a few weeks before. Steve Carell look alike was looking for approval from his parents and his boss, but that’s  not what he told his staff. He made up some “do I have to have a reason?” excuse.

Okay, so we’re watching and the guests are arriving at this outdoor vineyard like place. A guy drives up in his blue Prius/Honda looking car. The attendant runs over with his hands down by his sides, like he’s super gay or something. The attendant begins to open the door. The driver says something like I’d prefer to park it myself.

The attendant says, “I’m the valet. You have to let me park the car.”

It is then that you notice the attendant is wearing 18th century knee britches and maybe hobnail riding boots.

The guy says – no really I’d prefer…

And gets cut off by the attendant who says, “I’m the valet. GET OUT OF THE CAR!”

At this point the valet has put his hobnail jack boot on the side of the car up near the rear door front suport and has both hands on the front door window frame. He thus straightens his leg and rips the out of the driver’s hand.

The driver hesitantly gets out.

The valet hands him a receipt, jumps in the car, says, “enjoy your thing”* and drives off at high speed.

*He doesn’t say, “Enjoy your party.” Or soiree, or reception. Oh no, “Your thing.”

I was kind of surprised that he didn’t spin the tires and throw gravel.

At this point the guy looks at his receipt. It’s an acorn.

Seconds later you see the guy’s car plowing into a field of tall corn, mowing it down until the car can go no further.

#####

I lost it.

I could not stop laughing.

I watched it half a dozen times.

Shelby videoed me laughing at it.

OMG. True Class (Not).

#####

My friend, Frank, sent me an email checking to make sure my “little suggestion” was kidding. I was. I don’t think … Well, never mind.

There was a picture of Donald Trump in a tux leaning against a piano with Ivanka on top of the piano laid out all sexy in a slithery dress. To Donald this classy, I’m sure.

Classy, depends on your values. I’ve seen videos where men are dressed in white tuxedos with white canes and white hats with a white stretch limo in the background. To some this is the epitome of class. Obviously, they’ve never been in a stretch limo. It’s very uncomfortable.

########

The show ends with the valet attempting to jump a lineup of cars. There are about ten or twelve cars with a ramp up and a landing ramp. The valet is dressed in an old football helmet and red cape. He’s driving a Vespa. A Vespa! A motorscooter! He makes it to the top of the take-off ramp. Gets off and runs across the tops of the cars. Arms up. Victory!

Classy.
