The Race to the Bottom – Mississippi vs Alabama

 A week or so ago a 13 year old girl in Mississippi was forced to bring a child into the world.

Not to be out done – The AG of Alabama is trying to make a Rico case out of any Alabama resident leaving the state to seek health care that they can’t get in that state. Classy.

New job numbers are out and they are better than expected. 

Joe Biden went to the belly of the deep state beast yesterday. He visited FEMA workers and thanked them for what they do. Especially, what they are doing in regards to Hurricane Idalia, which ravaged parts of Florida that hasn’t seen such weather in over 100 years. The hurricane was so bad that Ron DeSantis actually returned to the state to get in front of microphones and pretend to do his job as governor. 

Ron also got booed earlier in the week for showing up at a media briefing about the three people shot and killed by a racist. Ron said that such actions have no place in Florida. But banning books, rewriting history, and saying slaves learned useful skills as slaves (courtesy of a right wing blowhard who pretends to be a university) is okay. I wonder if he wonders why he got booed?

The Republicans had a forum where the presidential contenders got to raise their hands to support Trump if he were the nominee even if convicted. The amount of nonsense was beyond silly. None of them are electable – I hope. I mean some got praised for a few moments of sanity they showed when not spouting nonsense. 

BTW – did you know that heart cells can beat? And they can do so outside the body? So the “heartbeat” you can hear inside a mother’s womb is not a heart when it is first heard. Oh sorry. Facts. Gee, I wonder if someone were to clean up a biology experiment of beating heart cells would the AG of Mississippi or Alabama bring murder charges?

Mitch McConnell stood in front of a bunch of microphones and couldn’t talk. A young woman beside him asked, “Senator, did you hear the question?” Maybe, he did. Maybe, he didn’t. He looked out of it. Probably a mini-stroke. He was led away after faintly, finally, making a few remarks. He was slightly bent over and seemed to have little idea where he was.

Joe Biden has managed to get ten drugs cleared for price negotiation for Medicare. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are crying socialism. How is allowing an entity to negotiate prices socialism? I thought that the essence of capitalism? Ten drugs this year, fifteen next year, and the next. Why the slow roll out? Come on you know the answer – Republican obstructionism. That and the influence of big pharma lobbyists who out number politicians in Washington 3 to 1.

Tommy Tuberville continues to block military promotions. I’m sure Mitch will waddle up to him and try to convince him. Why is it we have to convince him? He’s not going to change unless a gun is put to his head. Now, there’s an idea.

Biden is also trying to close the gun show loophole – a favorite issue of John McCain. Maybe, it will get through this time? 

Oh, and did you read the Republican health care plan that will replace Obamacare? No? Don’t hold your breath, it’s been thirteen years and nothing. Give them time to let it trickle down.

Fani has said she wants to try all 19 conspirators at once and seeing as two have asked for a speedy trial why not all of them? Yeah baby! Fani don’t play. I’m getting excited. Almost as excited as when Bobby three stick was working it. 

Donnie is lashing out at the three black women holding him to account. Well, who else is going to do it? We’ve had decades of white men letting him slip by and being too cowardly to confront him.

One of those other black women is saying that the orange one inflated his net worth by 2.2 billion and was only worth $750M. Oh, that’s gotta sting. But as Michael Bloomberg said when asked about being one of two billionaires in the race for President, “Oh? Who’s the other one?” Who indeed.

And Taylor Swift continues to impress with her Eras Tour, now in Mexico City. She bought hotel rooms for her crew, 179 rooms running to six figures. What a class act. Three and a half hours every night she performs – rain or shine. Wow.

Simone Biles won her eighth championship. If you haven’t seen her floor routine make a point to do so. The first of three crossings was a double in the air flip – no tuck, lay out. That was the simplest move. Her final was – I think – a triple flip with a 360 spin. No problem.

Two Proud Boys got sentenced – only 15 and 17 years. They were crying, bawling in fact. A big difference from their bully bravery on Jan 6th. Well, to quote the Temptations, “Ain’t too proud to beg.” Hey, you only got half what you could have received. What a deal! Maybe, Mr. Art-of-the-Deal will work something out? No? Too late? Too bad.

Meanwhile, Rudy. OMG. He should be able to work an insanity appeal. Somehow the judge isn’t buying the reason he didn’t turn over what he was asked to turn over because he was afraid it would be used against him elsewhere. Aw man. bummer. Now he owes a lot of money, says he’s broke, yet can afford private jets?

And Roger Stone has been in the news too. Video of him admitting that Trump lost, dictating the fake electors scheme, and then getting out of town right after Jan 6th. Hopefully, there will be new charges that he was not pardoned for that will put him away for the rest of his life.

And Clarence Thomas? He’s admitted to some of the gifts and deals he got from Harlan Crow. Wow, You know old Clarence didn’t know, realize, whatever – yeah right. Well, now he’s cleaned up his act, right? When the real estate case that Harlan is so interested in gets before the bench don’t you think he’ll recuse himself? No? Aw shucks.
