Day 568

Day 568 Friday August 10, 2018 1,010 Days to Go

I am actually writing this a day early because, well, I’ve been inspired! Actually, I see an incredible opportunity and I want to seize it before some other shmuck scoops me.

Couple in painter overall with mylar decoration and giant mylar hats
Space Force Uniforms

I see an incredible opportunity for Ivanka and her fashion brand. I know she just shut it down but if they think Sessions can unrecuse himself than certainly she can get those folks in China who were working for her at slave wages to start working again. (I imagine it will be a real boon for them to be working for next to nothing again!)

One of the problems folks said with Ivanka’s stuff was that it wasn’t selling. Maybe that’s true. I mean who doesn’t want crap from China? Just ask any Wal-Mart shopper. But maybe, just maybe, Ivanka didn’t position herself in the right segment of the market. So I’m here to help out! I mean, I think I owe it to the country. (I’m not really sure how that connects so I’ll go with “trust me. It connects.”)

So here ya go – The Ivanka Line of Prison Jumpsuits!!!

What a line up we have for you!!!

The Ivankanian is the latest entry, gold Lame with faux couture from our De Ore Collection – very fine.

There’s the new entry the Chris Collins – a lovely trim outfit, similar to our other men’s ware the Mannafort.
It’s a low cost entry. The Mannafort being our high end unit. You’ll be the envy of the yard regardless of which suit you pick!

XXXXXXXX

Okay, in other news,
– Cory Stewart, Republican choice for Senator from Virginia, has made an unapologetic comment about the Confederate generals and politicians comparing them to George Washington and others patriots. But that’s not all! He then went on to call a Democratic nominee running for office an ISIS Commie. Why? Well the guy has one deem dare funny sounding names, ya know, Arabic or Muslim, sumptin’ like that. I want to get Dave Brat on the record as backing this guy.
– Meanwhile the fallout from the Nunes tape continues.
– Chris Collins and his son are both arrested for the insider trading.
– Manafort’s trial continues and the prosecution is wrapping up. The judge apologizes to them for comments he made to them the day before.
– Cohen’s trail and plea bargaining continues.
– Rudy Giuliani says the president won’t go before Mueller to answer questions because “They already know the answers” and “They are just trying to catch him in a perjury trap.” It has been pointed out to Mr. Giuliani that it’s only perjury IF YOU LIE. In essence then what the president’s lawyer is saying is that the president will lie under oath.
– Let’s see what else? Oh yeah, the Manhattan Madam, the good friend of Roger Stone is being called in for questioning by Robert Mueller. Why? Well, she was doing secretarial duties for Roger. Apparently, Roger can’t type; he can only walk around in his apartment in his underwear yelling and this woman put it into emails for him. Have you seen pictures of her? Beast, comes to mind.
– Then there’s this minor minor little tiny legal thing, a woman was petitioning to be given refugee status here. Her lawyer’s on a break learned that the government went against their promise and deported her, while her petition was in front of the judge. The judge was so mad he ordered the plane turned around in the air. (Didn’t happen, landed in El Salvador then returned with the woman and her daughter.)
– There is still backlash over Laura Igraham’s comments about LeBron James. (e.g. “He should just shut up and dribble.”) Some people find that offensive, can you imagine? This after Trump called LeBron dumb, because he didn’t like LeBron saying that sports for him has always brought people together, (and I suppose the fact that LeBron used his own money to fund a school for 400 kids in his hometown.)
– Meanwhile there’s a white supremacist rally scheduled for this weekend next to the White House. Maybe, the pres can step out and say a few words? These are his most fervent supporters. It’s the least he could do.
– Mike Pense has announced a new branch of the military – The Space Force. Sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon show. Hopefully, there will be cereal toys to go with it. The White House has released a bunch of possible logos and we are supposed to vote for the one we like best. Oh boy, can’t wait.
– It was 43 years ago this week the Nixon resigned and twenty years ago that Whitewater/Monica Lewinsky scandal was happening. In case anyone forgot, Nixon was told to resign by members in his own party, and the Special Counsel in the Clinton probe was appointed by his own party. Had they known how the Republicans were going to abuse that task I wonder if they would have been so quick to appoint. Also, a little known fact, the only reason Monica Lewinsky was that close to the President was because of a government shutdown that caused most of the White House staff not to come to work. The White House interns had to step up. Now we have Republicans actively planning to impeach the Rod Rosenstein so they can appoint someone who would fire Robert Mueller and shutdown an investigation into how the Russians interfered in our 2016 election. My how far we’ve gone backwards.
– Lawrence O’Donnell last night was talking about when he was on staff and had to take The Oath of Office. Everyone who works in the government has to take the same oath. He and one of his guests, a former Federal prosecutor, were visibly emotionally taken back when describing what it was like. “to defend the country against all enemies foreign and domestic.” It was a serious thing, and they and their fellow employees took it seriously. Now? Now we have Devin Nunes and the #4 Republican in the House saying first they want to ram through the appointment of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court then after the election, when they are a lame duck Congress they’ll impeach Rosenstein. This is what they have become.
– On the Kavanaugh appointment, he might have lied to the Senate committee the last time he was up for an appointment. The Dems want to see paperwork from when he worked in the White House during W’s tenure. He might have been involved in the torture program. Something he denied under oath. Guess what? The Republicans blocked the access to those records. The Democratic Senators had to file a Freedom of Information Request to get access to the documents!
– Wilbur Ross, sec of Commerce, is back in the spotlight. Last week, (or was it a few days ago?) it was revealed he stole $130 million. Now, it’s revealed that he has interests in shipping companies entangled with China and other companies that have something to do with North Korea. For some reason some people think he may – may – act in his own interests and not that of the country. Ya think?
– Then there’s the VA, Trump has turned over the running of it to three buds from his country club in Florida. No experience, no knowledge, no nuthin’ Hey, only the best people.
– An experienced reporter at the Washington Post pointed out that most (sane, competent) people want nothing to do with this administration. That means that second or third tier people have moved into positions of authority and power. They have little or no sense of duty to the country and are only there for themselves.
She pointed out that when Trump had a piece of paper with his five foreign affairs advisors the people at the Post laughed. They hadn’t heard of any of them! Two were Carter Page, and George Papadopoulos. Imagine that? The top reporters in Washington, who know everybody in that town had never heard of even one of Trump’s five picks for foreign affairs advisors!

It is a sad commentary that our president, his staff, his party, and his supporters have no interest in making this country great, but only in grabbing what they can for themselves and protecting themselves while they commit crimes in the open.

– If you haven’t read the indictment against Chris Collins I urge you to do so. I posted a link to it yesterday.
Collins says its unfair, not true, he’ll fight it to the end or whatever. It’s kind of hard to do so when the indictment has 95 points, most of which read something like this “on June 12th so and so made a phone call to X. The call lasted 4 minutes. 30 seconds after they hung up X put in an order to sell all his shares and called Y … who sold all their shares.”
Yeah, nothing to see here. It’s all out in the open. You don’t have to pull back any curtain.
