Day 633 Thursday October 11, 2018  948 Days to Go

Let’s hit the headlines:

Hurricane Michael hit the panhandle of Florida and was a cat four when it got to Georgia.

Trump is looking at replacing Jeff Sessions with a guy that last was a commentator on a news channel and was calling the Mueller investigation a witch hunt and he would personally end it.

The State Secretary of Georgia is running for Governor of that state and is holding 53,000 voter registrations because they don’t exactly match what they show the person’s name to be. Seventy percent of these registrations are black voters and he is running against a black woman. He refuses to step aside and let someone else handle the situation, because he says there is no problem.

USA Today reported what Donald Trump said about the Medicare for All proposals. What he said was all lies. USA Today forgot to mention that little fact.

A Chinese military official has been arrested and extradited to the U.S. for stealing technology secrets from U.S. companies.

The 10th Circuit court, where Brett Kavanaugh was a judge, is looking into ethics complaints against him and says it’s serious enough to warrant an investigation.

The Saudis sent a team of 15 people to their consulate in Turkey to kill an American journalist. Our intel community picked up the conversations. Standard procedure is to immediately warn the person of the threat to their life. It seems the Trump administration failed to do that.

Trump had criticized Obama for holding a rally a week after a hurricane came ashore during Obama’s presidency. Not to be outdone, the Donald held a rally as Hurricane Michael came ashore.

Mr. Trump lashed out at Senator Feinstein at his rally and led cheers of “Lock her Up!” For what is unclear, but it has something to do with her asking Kavanaugh questions, which the president characterized as “very unfair.”

Many polls now show Republicans closing the enthusiasm gap in the upcoming election. Apparently, they share the president’s thoughts that Kavanaugh was treated unfairly.

Republican politicians and Fox News have colluded once again to come up with a false narrative. This time it’s that people protesting Kavanaugh’s nomination were a mob and they, the brave stalwart Republicans, stood up to them.

Oh, and the stock market is tanking. The president blames the Federal Reserve. One of the few places I am told that he actually appointed competent people. The reason the market is going down is that the trade wars are starting to have an effect on company profits and they are forewarning investors that the 3rd quarter won’t be so rosy. Mr. Trump, who went to Wharton School of Business, and who claims to have a very good brain, and has boasted that he never needed to study and winged it in class must have been absent or asleep during any discussion of basic economics. This isn’t a hard concept to get, but lemme give The Donald an explanation that even he could understand, if he paid a minimum amount of attention, which I’m not sure he can, but here goes…

If you are a country and you borrow money there are only so many people who will lend you money at say 2%; there are only so many at 3%, etc. As you borrow more and more money the percentage you have to pay goes up. This is called supply and demand. This is the basis of all economic theory. Mr. Trump doesn’t seem to know about this “deal.” I think that is because he isn’t anywhere near as bright as he claims to be. I’ll go with his staff assessment that he’s an idiot, a moron, and has the intellectual ability of a fifth or sixth grader. My apologies to those elementary school grades. I personally think they are smarter than our current president.

The most interesting news item to watch is the White House reaction to the death of a U.S. citizen by the hands of the Saudis. The crown prince, a personal bud of Jared Kushner, ordered the execution of a Washington Post reporter. This reporter was seen entering the consulate in Turkey. His fiancé waited outside for him, for three hours. He never came out. When she asked they told her he had left. He hadn’t. There are numerous cameras inside that consulate. All they have to do is provide the tapes to prove their case. Of course what we will see is the execution of this man who mildly criticized the regime. His body is believed to have been disposed in a house next door.

This will provide an interesting test for the President and the White House. The president is a pussy. He has shown no leadership ability, no sense of moral or ethical rectitude, so I predict he will either try to wheedle out of it by saying the Saudis didn’t do it, or the guy wasn’t a “real” American, or he will flat out lie and say something like “it could have been anyone.”

This president is not a leader. He is a con man. As he learned at the U.N. when he made an outrageous claim, they laughed in his face. Now he is faced with the prospect of defending a U.S. citizen. Will he do it? I say no. I say he’ll make up excuses, because as I have said; he is a pussy and he is not a leader.

Why did the Saudis think they could get away with this? Because Donald Trump is their bud.

 948 Days to Go

PS Four Charts: Amount of borrowing the U.S. is doing. (Oh lookee, it’s the Republicans who borrow gobs of money! and it will cost US more!) and the number of major storms that hit the U.S. (Oh lookee, there are a lot every year for the last few years. Thank God climate change isn’t real or we’d be in real trouble. Because it’s costing us a lot!)
