Okay, I wasn’t going to write anything today. It was the same old stuff and I was tired of it but then…

Then I saw this:

Scientists have established a link between brain damage and religious fundamentalism

It turns out that religious fundamentalism reduces openness and cognitive flexibility. This can be caused by either indoctrination or some sort of defect in a person’s physical makeup.

So I have a modest proposal (thank-you Johnathan Swift)…

If you’ve read the article then you realize that this sort of thing can be dangerous and I think should be stamped out. I propose that as long as these religious fundamentalists aren’t using a big part of their brain we should help them along to shutting down more of it, and seeing as how they could pass this along to their kids either via defective DNA or bad parenting and wretched environment – I propose electro shock to the brain and genitals.

I know it’s a modest proposal, and there are those worried about the Confederate statues coming down and wanting a return to the good old days and I say let’s do it by cleansing ourselves of the fools and idiots. I know, it’s a small step, but you got to start somewhere.
