Years ago when Malcolm Forbes was still running the magazine there was an article about somebody doing some inanely dumb financially. All he said was, “time for the boys in short pants.” In other words, children were running the place.
Peter Lynch who ran the Magellan Fund during its most successful period wrote that one should only invest in companies that an idiot could run because he reasoned eventually an idiot would run them.
Lawrence Peter wrote the Peter Principle which states “that everyone rises to their own level of incompetence.”
Ah yes. Well, here we are. Who knew that these principles applied to countries and political parties?
Then there’s religion. The universe has been around for how long? Eleven or thirteen billion years. And man has been around for what? – a few thousand. When did the concept of god evolve? Not that long ago.
Religions have three things needed: a sacred text, a leader, and something else – I forget. Cults only need the leader or so I am told. However, if we look at the ancient Egyptians they had cults, all sorts of cults. And gods, gods by the boatload. They prayed and held ceremonies for all sorts of gods and they venerated various animals and objects. Then the cults and religions went away. What happened to the world once they evaporated? Nothing.
On to current events:
Michael Cohen mentioned one time Trump had a bunch of evangelicals in his office and he said to them all the right things. All the things they wanted to hear. As they left Donald said to Michael, “Can you believe that?” As if to say, the people who came to visit were stupid enough to believe him. Trump has been pulling the same con all his life.
In the most stunning revelation, and I know – it will be a thing we all kind knew but … , Denver Riggleman has a book coming out tomorrow entitled “The Breach.” He has a background in CIA/NSA type data collection. He was also a Freedom Caucus member when he was a member of Congress . He got defeated by someone more to the right. Liz Chaney recruited him to work on the Jan 6th committee. He compiled millions of data messages and identified six centers of activity, which he says can show the movement of communications between the Trump Whitehouse and various organizing groups. He also has identified calls made between someone in the Capital on January 6th and someone in the White House. He has the messages between Ginnie Thomas and Mark Meadows. Her texts are wacky Qanon stuff.
The thing that is really disturbing is how widespread and deep reaching this stuff is. The problem with political parties is that they are like religions. Or sports teams, I guess.
I’ve heard people say, “My party right or wrong.”
This is dangerous. Especially when your team is being lead by the nose ring of Qanon and Donald Trump.
