Day 1269 – Part II: How Ya Doing?

114 Days until the election on November 3rd

194 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Okay. This from National Geographic:

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/07/how-new-coronavirus-surges-compare-new-york-city-peak-cvd/

Which puts in perspective the pandemic in various areas of our country.

We are five, six months into this thing and nurses, doctors and staff are still begging for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). What? Shall we play “We’re the Greatest Nation in the World”? (Everyone else is ripping off Hamilton.)

The president has been asked, begged, and told what to do; yet he doesn’t do it.

He’s now upset that this virus has been inflicted on him. It makes him look bad, and he doesn’t like it. Meanwhile, he hasn’t been updated on the virus in two months. WTF?

But he admitted that he took a mental test and he did an outstanding job, according to himself. Also, according to himself, “the doctors couldn’t believe it.” Before I give you the twist on that statement let me mention a few other points. This test is one that asks a person to tell the time by looking at the hands on a clock, to remember five words and give them back. In other words, it’s a tip off if you can’t ace it that something is beginning to go wrong. The doctors were, according to another doctor familiar with this test, probably astounded that they didn’t find anything wrong because if they had then they could have some reason as to why the guy is such an asshole. Maybe, they shouldn’t have been looking at his brain? Maybe elsewhere?

Trump has challenged Biden to the remember five words test.

I got five for you Donnie: narcisist, greed, corruption, liar, con-artist.

Here’s five for Joe: patriotic, leader, able, honest, forthright.

Just pulling five out of the air.

But here’s de coup d’grace – Sarah Cooper. God bless her.

Day 1269 – The Supreme Court does its job

114 Days until the election on November 3rd

194 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

There have been two rulings by the Supreme Court recently, both bad for Donald, but also a victory of sorts for him.

The Supreme Court kicked both back to lower courts to work out the details, which will probably delay any details coming out until after the election. That is Trump’s victory.

However, the court ruled 7-2 in favor of Congress and in favor of state prosecutors and they were 9-0 in saying no one is above the law. Thomas was one of the dissenting opinions and thought that this case placed too much of a “mental burden” on the president. Mental Burden? Trump? Yeah, well asking him to think at all could be called a mental burden. He’s not done it his whole life, why start now?

Face on a water fountain with pursed lips around a pipe with water pouring out.
Thar She Blows!

In other hysterically funny things to come out of their rulings Trump’s lawyer Jay Sucksalot (or something like that) said that subpoenaing this president would be a stigma on him. Think about that. Asking him to comply with the law like any other citizen was a stigma. Not the fact that he committed adultery with a porn actress. Not that he did it months after his fifth child was born to his third wife. Not that he tried to pay off said porn actress to buy her silence so as to not hurt his chances of winning the election. Not that he tried to hide these facts from the electorate. Not that he probably committed a crime in paying off the porn actress. No, none of that was bad. But a subpoena! Oh my god, the shame!

Yeah, pretty funny.

Pretty sad.

In other news, a friend of our reported that she had a buddy that went to Myrtle Beach last weekend. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask and the restaurants were packed indoors and out. No masks. Wonder why South Carolina is having a Covid outbreak?

Speaking of outbreaks, it seems wherever the president has held rallies there have been spikes in Covid. Huh? Who could have guessed? Oh the health officials in those states, the news people, everyone but the governors and the president. Stunning.

Now the president is scheduled to go to New Hampshire for a rally. Good idea. It is one of two states where the number of cases is going down. Maybe, he can get their numbers back up?

Joe Biden gave a terrific speech yesterday. Here’s a guy trying to unite the country, trying to make people’s lives better, trying to fight this epidemic. Multiple epidemics in fact: Corona Virus, stupidity, economic, unemployment, … yeah, we got a lot of problems and all of this could have been avoided. Never forget that.

Justice Roberts in writing the majority opinions spent quite a bit of time on the Aarom Burr trial, which reminds us of the play Hamilton and the signature song “In the Room Where It Happened,” which John Bolton ripped off to title his book.

In a opinion given by Eric Swalwell yesterday, reference was made to Bolton and being in the room where it happened. Swalwell made the point that Bolton had not been in the room where it happened. Swalwell said that room is where you raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth. Bolton did not enter that room.

Bolton failed the basic duty of citizenship.

Pretty sad.

Day 1267 – Appearance and The Con of Cons

116 Days until the election on November 3rd

196 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Mary Trump, Donald’s niece and a PhD in some sort of psychology personality analysis, has a new book out. Yeah, it’s a tell-all. She was the source behind the documents that the New York Times used to reveal the huge scam Trump did to not only not pay taxes but to defraud Mary out of millions and millions of dollars of her inheritance.

In the book she talks about how Donald was going to Fordham University. He wanted to go to Wharton. His grades weren’t really good enough. His older sister was doing his homework at Fordham. He paid a buddy to take the SATs for him.

Okay, what else do you need to know?

I mean, the guy didn’t do the school work, wasn’t interested in doing the work. He only cared about the illusion that he was smart. Yes he went to Fordham and to Wharton, but he didn’t do anything when he was there. He was only there to burnish his image. He learned nothing, because he did nothing.

He has worked hard at hiding his grades and everything else about his personal life. Other than the big showy stuff.

Mary Trump’s comments about his outlook on women is – well – what did you expect? He looks at them like furniture.

He has no shame, no idea of deportment or decorum. He’ll say things out loud at the worst possible time, in front of the very people that he is embarrassing. Not only does he not care, he seems to not know, and even relish it.

Mary recounts his telling his wife that Mary has or had a terrible drug problem. She never has had such. He told it to his wife to Mary’s face. When Mary said it wasn’t true he doubled down and insisted it was. All the while, smiling at Mary with an “I know you know” that none of this is true. He gets a certain kick out of it.

Now he’s president. Nothing has changed. He’s the same lying, careless, insensitive person he’s always been.

Mary also writes about being hired to write a book about him. She had an office in Trump Tower. She spent days listening to him on the phone and she tried to figure out what he did. She never did, as far as I know, figure that out.

I’ll have to get the book.

In other news, we watched the streaming of Hamilton with sub-titles! Do the sub-titles, so helpful.

This brings me to Johnny B! Mr. Bolton’s book is named after one of the key songs in the play Hamilton. Geez, what a rip-off guy. Oh, I’m sure he’s got a long winded excuse. Don’t they all?

Meanwhile the Corona Virus continues to spread across the country.

It’s going to get worse.

Day 1266 – Trump Get His Wall, Mexico Pays! We Are Isolated.

July 7, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird Leave a Comment

Tuesday July 7, 2020

117 Days until the election on November 3rd

197 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Mexico has shut its border to us. So has Europe, and Canada says only essential travel.

So Isolationism wins!

Yeah us.

Meanwhile hospitals are allowing camera crews in to see what they are dealing with, and it ain’t pretty. One doctor last night said he has three beds and ten patients that need them. Those beds are equipped with a life saving device to oxygenate their blood, without it they will most likely die. This is where we are. Doctors are now deciding who lives and who dies.

Canada has stopped this virus. How did they do it? They listened to their scientists. They didn’t politicize it. They banded together as one to fight this thing. Please remember if Hillary had won, you would have hardly heard of this virus because she would have sent more people to China to snuff it out there. Now? According to former Trump Homeland Security official we are having the equivalent of one Wuhan every day in the U.S.

When I look at the countries hardest hit: U.S., Russia, Brazil they are run by tough guys. Big talkers. Here they have a chance to show what they can really do and what happened? They failed. Each one in their own way – zero, loser. North Korea is even worse. They are dependent on China. Their trade with China is down 86%. They are desperate to find a way to steal, trade or do anything to get money. They are failing – big time.

We haven’t seen the worst yet.

It’s going to get worse. A lot worse. You think it can’t. It can. Has Trump ever let us down when it has come to sinking lower? Remember every time you think the bottom is reached you learn it can get worse.

Hey, he and his administration are still separating kids from their parents at the border.

Guess where the head of that effort is now? She’s spokesperson for Mike Pence. Yeah. After  throwing kids in cages, she’s now overseeing the death toll for the Corona Virus response team. Talk about failing upward. She is literally walking on the bodies of people. First immigrants and babies now old people and other regular Americans.

I learned that one of the things that makes this virus so deadly is that the typical response of the body to an infection is not triggered for four or five days. Meanwhile, the virus spreads. When the body realizes what’s going on the body is riddled with the virus.

The age of people being infected has dropped. Now doctors are seeing twenty year olds dying from it.

Our country is being run by idiots. So are most states.

This has gotten worse. Not better. There is no end in sight.

Day 1263 – Fact, Fiction, Horror

July 4, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird Leave a Comment

120 Days until the election on November 3rd

200 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

A friend of mine, who I have known since grade school, posted on Facebook a picture of a beach in Florida. It was taken through a position of sitting back on a chaise lounge. He stated the per capita number of deaths in Florida versus New York. New York’s per capita was higher, according to his numbers. He asked, “Where would you rather live?”

Yeah. Take that!

This brings up a fascinating point. (Okay, not that fascinating.)

Although his per capita numbers may be correct his logic is off. To argue his point one would have to look at the per capita death rate now, not the average over the entire time period. New York had a huge spike at first, but its governor fought to get it down. Florida’s governor did the opposite. He ignored it, belittled it, and now Florida is paying the price. The day before yesterday, July 2nd, Florida had over 6,000 new cases of Corona Virus, while New York had 872. If we went on a per capita basis now, obviously New York with a much larger population than Florida would have a much lower per capita rate than Florida.

There is evidence no matter where you look and how some want to spin it that getting tough early works. Ignoring doesn’t. In Michigan where the governor ignored the president’s suggestions and she ignored the gun toting put up to it Second Amendment fellas with their AR-15s the rate of infection is way down, like 495 in a day versus Florida or Georgia where the governors got in line with the White House silliness and they have cases in the thousands per day. Their hospitals are at capacity and they are barely holding on.

South Dakota where the president went last night for what has been termed “a super spreader event” will probably see a spike over what they already are experiencing. The vice president had to delay a trip a day because his Secret Service team was infected and they had to bring in new agents. How long will it be before one of the inner circle gets it? By that I mean the virus, not sanity – please.

It turns out that leadership and science are better than ignoring and ignorance. In other words, facing reality and dealing with it work better than la-la land. But don’t tell president Trump. He doesn’t like that.

This brings up the whole Russians paying to kill Americans.

I can’t get Sarah Cooper’s lip-sync of Trump talking about disinfectant out of my head. She makes his ignorance and stupidity so clear. Talk about transparency! She also has said she is envious of him because he has managed his whole life to get by on BS, and she hasn’t.

To watch him in interviews trying to think of something, anything, to get by, is sickening and most people can’t watch it. It is so appalling. Yet, the scary thing is he is probably going to run for a second term and currently it appears he has no chance of winning, but there is a more than even chance he could steal the election.

Trump, aided and abetted by the national and local Republican parties, could create a situation where several states’ votes could be called into question. Even if they aren’t he could declare a national emergency and say some states’ votes are in question. If this happens then The Supreme Court could get involved. The Constitution says the Electoral College must vote in December and if no candidate gets a majority the election gets thrown into the House where each state gets one vote. In Gore v Florida the Court said that the votes weren’t re-counted in Florida in time, sorry. And remember this all happened because of a confusing ballot and hanging chads that were created in a heavily Democratic area because the Republican in charge of the election saw to it to create unreadable ballots. (Just in case you didn’t know. The ballots were all prepunch, which is fine for mail-in over seas ballots. However, if those ballots are run through machines they tend to poke out partially some of the choices and thus the hanging chad.)

Imagine that! Would Trump do it? Would he declare a national emergency so as to make it so that no one gets a majority of the electoral college votes and thus no one is elected President by the Electoral College?

Who wants to take the bet?

What happens then? Each state gets one vote. There are 26 Republican states and 24 Democratic states.

26-24 Trump.

It’s horrible to contemplate but it’s realistic to assume.

Have a nice day. Wear a Mask. Stay home. It won’t kill you. (Other things can.)

120 Days until the election on November 3rd

200 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

PS The famous ball player stella of El Baúl. The site was destroyed in 1997 and a few pieces of sculpture were saved. This is one of them. Most people don’t get to see the original because you have to know where it is and how to get there. It’s behind a guarded twenty foot high chain link fence with coils of barbed wire on top.

What is going on here? Gloved ballplayers wearing old football helmets and holding round balls is what I see. I haven’t seen much real scholarly evidence. Ancient aliens? Proof that the lost tribe settled here? Or ancient Egyptians? Yes, that is probably out there. But what it really represents is hard to say. As far as I know it is the only example of this sort of thing. There is a copy on the wall of the National Museum in Guatemala City. You typically see it as you enter or leave the museum and are on the bus. You have time to ask yourself, “What is that?” and then it’s gone. No one will tell you or they gloss over it. (Obviously, a deep state conspiracy. Sigh.)

Maybe, no one knows?
