Day 1372 – Are Thee a Criminal? Let Me Count the Ways

October 22, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird 1 Comment

Thursday October 22, 2020

12 Days* until the election on November 3rd

92 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Joyce Vance and Barbra McQuade had an article in The Washington Post on October 16th, entitled “A Rap Sheet for a Former President”

Here’s the link:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/rap-sheet-trump-crimes/2020/10/16/c6a539da-0e61-11eb-8a35-237ef1eb2ef7_story.html

It’s an impressive list, including:

Obstruction of Justice,

Bribery,

Conspiracy to Defraud the United States,

Campaign Finance Violations,

Money Laundering,

Preparing False Business Records,

Hatch Act Violations,

These are mostly Federal crimes, but some are state crimes.

There is talk that Trump would not be allowed to leave the country for fear that he would sell state secrets. Not that he would try to avoid prosecution, but that he would betray the country!

I know there are some folks who say, “Oh that’s just an opinion.” They would be wrong. Robert Mueller laid out in his report numerous examples of the president meeting every circumstance for a charges of obstruction of justice. He did so “to preserve the evidence.”

This ain’t no opinion. These are facts. Not alternate facts. Not fake news. No facts that can be used to charge someone with crimes.

Now if you want an opinion let’s go to The Steele Report, wherein Mr. Steele wrote that Trump was letting his stuff with Russia be known so his crimes (or dealings) with China would not be known.

Hum.

Should be an interesting debate, if he shows. And they have a mute button.

Should be very interesting.

I’d like to see them both in plexiglass cells.

Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Trump thrashing around. Okay. Not so much fun, but still.

One last bone to pick. That prissy David Brooks said that Biden’s Townhall was boring. Fuck You! We had entertainment for four years, how did that work out? I found Biden’s townhall to be a welcome relief. Here was a man talking policy, talking what he had done and what he planned to do. Maybe, David Brooks you are in the wrong line of work? I mean anytime a Democrat or slightly progressive person says anything you make that stupid little face and stick in a slightly nasty comment: Obama’s State of the Union was “small bore,” other times if it the talk is big ideas it’s “vague.” I have yet to hear you come up with anything positive.

Day 1370 – Will Democracy Survive?

October 22, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird 1 Comment

Tuesday October 20, 2020

14 Days* until the election on November 3rd

94 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

*Finally revised

There are two major problems facing this country beyond Covid and Trump:

1- is the Democracy in Chains problem. Conservatives packing legislatures and courts. and then wanting to change the constitution to their advantage

2 – the problem that the majority of the population is, or will soon be, living in 16 states, That’s 32 Senators for the people and 68 for the rural right wing.

Put another way California has 2 senators and 40 million people; another 23 states combined have 40 million.

The question is “Will the democracy survive?”

I don’t think so, because it would require those rural areas to give up some of their power. I don’t see that happening.

The only way to do it would be if New York and California and perhaps the other 14 populous states refused to play along.

Let Wyoming and Kentucky fend for themselves. See how long they last.

It will be interesting to see if this woman gets on the Supreme Court how quickly the ACA will be abolished and how soon rural hospitals will vanish. Will those folks in rural America make the connection?

Back in the 30s FDR electrified rural America. Socialism!

So are grain subsidies, which those rural senators love. Socialism!

My Congressperson, Abigail Spanberger is working to get the internet to rural America.

Her opponent is yelling “tax and spend” and “we can’t afford to raise the minimum wage.”

It’s interesting to me that Republicans, who always spend more than Democrats and put the nation in deeper and deeper debt, blame Democrats for this, and they seem to get away with it.

The Department of Agriculture has a loan program for rural America. It works through local banks. Many of the conservatives on Fox and elsewhere think it’s the local banks helping the farmers, It’s not; it’s the Federal government. That loan program portfolio is one of the things the Republicans have been trying to get their hands on for their banking buddies. As far as I know they have failed. If it weren’t for that loan program as one official put it, “rural America would look like rural China.”

Socialism!

Call your senator and any other senator and for the sake of this country for the next fifty years tell them not to approve this woman with two years experience and a lifetime of wacky religious and social ideas to not be approved for the Supreme Court.

That is all.

Carry on.

Day 1369 – They Had a Plan. They Just Didn’t Use It

Monday October 19, 2020

13 Days* until the election on November 3rd

93 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

*Counts may be off

I was driving on Hull Street. I had turned on the radio to the local PBS station. (That’s not what they call the radio stations, but I forget what they are called.)

The woman was interviewing someone who had made a film about the Trump White House and it’s plan for responding to a corona virus outbreak.

Trump and his White House hate everything Obama did and they are trying to undo every bit of it. This includes not using any of the things Obama put in place concerning a possible outbreak of a corona virus. They didn’t look at Obama’s plan. They created their own. It was complete two months before the Covid outbreak.

Sword or Wand?

When the virus hit, what did they do? Well, if you have a plan, and it’s your plan, and it’s sitting on the shelf ready to go what would you do?

Nothing.

You’d leave that sucker on the shelf.

At least that’s what you do in the Trump White House.

Some ask why?

Well the explanation is simple. If you don’t know; it ain’t happening.

People are dying? Who knew? Wonder why? Next. Let’s have a rally.

Day 1368 – Amy who?

Sunday October 18, 2020

14 Days* until the election on November 3rd

94 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Okay, let’s look at this woman who the Republicans have put up to be on the Supreme Court.

– She has a little over two years experience as a judge.

– She has and may still belong to a cult. Yes, she says she’s Catholic, and some may think that means Roman Catholic, but it doesn’t. It means you believe that your church is descended from St Peter. That’s all. It means you didn’t “protest” and break away.

– This cult speaks in tongues, believes women should be subservient to men, and stuff like that.

What else do you need to know?

She is strongly opposed to abortion and the ACA. It is without question that if she gets on the Supreme Court both Roe vs Wade, and the ACA will be overturned. That will only be the beginning, but let’s start with that.

Roe vs Wade is the decision that made abortion legal in the U.S. If it goes away we will be back to illegal abortions and women dying trying to have an abortion or who should of had one but were denied and died with the fetus in the womb. I say these people aren’t Pro-Life but Pro-Death. The only difference is who is going to die.

In vetro-fertilization could become a capital offense. You know, like manslaughter or murder. Tammy Duckworth explained how. She had three fertilized eggs. One looked weak and so they discarded it. The doctor explained that under some of the anti-abortion laws like the ones Ms. Barrett likes, this would be considered murder.

Moving on the the ACA, besides many people losing health insurance and pre-existing conditions not being covered – all of which would lead to a less healthy population and people dying – there’s another problem. Theend of the ACA will result in rural hospitals being strapped economically, many would have to close. The ACA has been a boon to rural health care because stuff was covered and people could afford to go to the hospital. This has been critical in rural America.

Just looking at the above reasons and potential problems you would think the strongly rural mostly Republican areas of the country would be opposed to this happening, and they are. However, when the majority of them wake up to the fact that this will happen it will be too late.

So with all this in mind I have some questions for Ms. Barrett:

1. Are you still a member of People of Praise?

2. You lived in the leader’s house correct?

3. People of Praise espouses that women should be subservient to men, especially their husbands. If you become a Supreme Court justice which men will you listen to and take your orders from?

4. You have seven children. Aren’t you, according to your faith, supposed to be home tending to them and your husband. How would you have time to decide any cases? Oh never mind I withdraw the question because according to your faith a man will tell you what to do, isn’t that correct? According to your faith?

5. Did you deliberately wear that dress the first day of your hearings? The one that looks like the same color as that or f the woman in The Handmaiden’s Tale?

6. Speaking of handmaidens wasn’t that one of your titles in The People of Praise church?

7. People of Praise speak in tongues? Do you speak in tongues? Do you think it would be a problem if you spoke from the bench in tongues?

The vote is in three days. Call every Republican Senator you can and ask it=f they have the stones to stand up for America instead of this crazed, unqualified bat-shit woman. Maybe, be a bit more tactful?

Wanna Go a Couple of Rounds?

PS Glad to see Axe Throwing as an indoor sport. Maybe, It will be an Olympic sport one day? But why the foam axes? When I was a kid we used real axes.

Day 1365a – The Coming Storm

October 19, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird 1 Comment

In 1930 Germany was a democracy. By 1934 Hitler was in charge. It happened that quickly. In this country, it’s been a long slow trudge for the oligarchs to destroy our democracy and they’ve pretty much done it. What they are doing is obvious and has been known for years. If you haven’t read “Democracy in Chains” I urge you to do so. The plan is outlined there.

Yakers

Basically, it’s the idea of chipping away wherever possible at our freedoms and controlling the levers of power to their benefit against the wishes of the people. In order to do this they must lie and hide their true motives, not that it’s been very subtle recently.

Because politicians can’t seem to stay bought the final phase, after gerrymandering and stripping as many laws to protect people as possible, is to make sure those politicians don’t get a conscience and reverse course. In order to do this they, the oligarchs and ones pulling the levers behind the scenes do two things: pack the courts with flunkies and change the constitution so even if said politician wants to do the right thing they can’t.

If you don’t believe me, look a Chile. Under Pinochet they changed the constitution. Now they have a new reformer president and she realized as soon as she took office that many of the things she wanted to do, and had promised to do, could not be legally done because of the changes to the constitution. Who did that? Who got the constitution of Chile changed? Why the same people who are trying to do it to our country. The same people who want this woman with a little over two years experience as a judge to be on the Supreme Court.

It’s interesting that the Republicans are worried that Joe Biden might pack the Supreme Court. Why are they worried? Because they’ve been doing just that at every level of our court system. They are the ones who have been packing the courts. In fact, that is the only thing Mitch McConnell has been doing. And let’s not forget that the only people to suggest changing the number of justices on the Supreme Court have been the Republicans. Remember they were the ones who wanted to not fill any seats if Hillary won and to leave the court at seven.

There is no mystery here. If you’ve been paying attention, you understand why Mitch McConnell does nothing for the people. That’s not his constituency. Simple. Likewise every Republican is beholding to these folks. They have all made deals with the devil.

They’ll say anything, but that doesn’t matter because all they want is to stay in power. Why? I guess so that their masters can continue to rob the country and the world.

I have people I know who are very anti-Democrat and very conservative Republican. You can point out that Republicans spend more than Democrats but they don’t care. They yell “socialism!” And if I get a chance I ask them if they like the post office, the military, the interstates, Medicare, Social Security and how about their pensions, if they were lucky enough to get one? Oh yes, they like them, They may be silent at that point.

But I remind them of two things: One – those are all socialist programs. And Two – Do they think any of that was done by Republicans? No, in fact most of those things were strongly opposed by Republicans. Except the military because you might need that to quell a rebellion.

PS Yakers! Get the mortar.
