Day 1151 Katie Porter and the CDC man

Day 1151 Katie Porter and the CDC man

Friday March 13, 2020

233 Days until the election on November 3rd

313 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Congresswoman Katie Porter asked a question of the man heading up the CDC. He tried to avoid answering the question. She reclaimed her time and asked again. He deflected. She reclaimed her time and asked again. He gave an answer. She said no good enough and asked again. Finally, he said Yes.

Wow. But wait. There’s more.

Not only had she told his office she was going to ask him this question she gave him the answer! And yet, he seemed to not know what she was talking about. He didn’t seem to know the law. The law that pertained to him as head of the CDC.

This didn’t seem to be a case of trying to avoid answering. This seemed to be a case of avoiding because he had no idea if what she was talking about. Yet, she and two of her fellow Congresspeople had sent them a letter a week before. She had told his staff the day before and reminded them the night before. Yet, he seemed totally unprepared for the question. She even told him the answer in the hearing, and yet he tried to deflect.

Moving on. In an interview with the science reporter for The New York Times, he outlined the steps China went to in order to break the cycle of contamination. Apparently, one of the worst places to get contaminated is if someone goes home with it. Therefore, self-quarantine at home doesn’t work. In order to break the spread of the virus China was checking the temperature of everyone coming into a building, any building, if you had a temperature you went to a special treatment center to get checked. You didn’t go to a hospital waiting room or your doctor’s office because that would just cause everyone there to get it. In these special facilities you went through several tests to determine if you had the virus. If you had it you went to a special facility for treatment.

What are we doing? Basically nothing. The president won’t even declare a state of emergency so funds can be released to let agencies and governments deal with this.

The stock market went down over 10% yesterday, that on top of several other drops in the preceding days. The Fed pumped one and a half trillion into the market, which put things on hold for a moment and then it started to go down again, like nothing happened. This after Trump’s Oval Office speech the night before to reassure the country.

Some say he seemed to have trouble reading the teleprompter. I disagree. I think that is giving him too much credit. I think, and I’ve thought this for a long time, he has trouble reading – period. He’s not stupid. Just uneducated, incurious, and unable to read.

Day 1150 – The Phoniness of Conservatism and the Difference between Democrats and Repubs

Day 1150 – The Phoniness of Conservatism and the Difference between Democrats and Repubs

Thursday March 12, 2020

234 Days until the election on November 3rd

314 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

I keep seeing those images of those right wing Republicans who attacked Hillary and attacked the people testifying at the House hearings on Trump and attacked the scientists trying to tell them the truth now all going into hiding because the Corona Virus is real and they might have it.

But that’s what it takes if you’re a Republican. Do nothing until it affects you.

I remember in Tip O’Neil’s book “Speaker of The House” where he told the story of Papa Bush feeling bad for one of his staff members because they had some calamity. They passed the hat. Literally, that’s what they did. Tip was thinking how George had killed a bill that would have helped thousands of people in the same sort of predicament just the week before. But it wasn’t personal. It hadn’t affected him so forget it.

What do you think Hillary would be doing if she was president in this crisis? Or any Democrat?

I’ll tell you what. They’d be figuring out how many hospital beds we needed and where to get them. Respirators and ventilators (the country has 69,000 we are going to need millions). Test kits? She’d have been all over that weeks ago.

Instead, what’s happening? The White House is waiting for Jared to finish his analysis.

Hum. You like that?

If you are a true Trump supporter, a true believer, you’d be out in the street shaking hands and coughing on your fellow supporters.

Day 1149 Are You a Trump Supporter? Go To a Rally!

Day 1149 Are You a Trump Supporter? Go To a Rally!

Wednesday March 11, 2020

235 Days until the election on November 3rd

315 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

If you truly are a Trump supporter, especially if you are over sixty, I urge you to go to a Trump rally and show your support.

These people who you think are trying to make the president look bad, called scientists, say that the Covad-19 virus is spread by contact. Contact with surfaces. What do they know? Have a “Lick the Counter” contest. Buy a “I Ain’t Afraid of No Virus” T-shirt. Heck, who knows if viruses are real? You can’t see them. Sounds like something dreamed up by Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, and the Squad.

Get thee to a rally!

Okay, for those of you still left. Covad-19 is spread by contact with surfaces. It is especially hard hitting to older people. It is ten times more serious than the flu – minimum. Soap and water kills it. So do anti-bacterial products (but soap is more effective). White vinegar does not kill it, bleach will kill it, so will rubbing alcohol. Stay away from people – at least six feet. Wipe down keyboards, handles, and counters. If you are sick, don’t go out spreading it around.

I heard Howard Dean tonight. I’ve always liked his analysis. His strategy when he ran the Democratic Party was brilliant.  When asked if the Democratic Party was moving more to the left he said no. He pointed out that the seats that the Dems won in 2018 were in conservative and middle of the road type places. He said the issue driving it was universal health care. And many of those candidates had a military background. Did he think a “Let’s kill off the insurance companies” bill would pass in Congress? No. He did think giving people the option of Medicare was a good one. He came back to “Universal Health Care” over and over.

What did he think Bernie Sanders chances were of winning the nomination? Not very good. He pointed out that Bernie has been saying the same thing for years. For Bernie it’s a revolution, and Bernie realizes that it’s probably not going to happen this time, But Bernie can push for his ideas, and Dean said that if he were Bernie he’d stay in for another round.

The president will address the nation tonight at nine. I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to the man who has told over 16,000 lies to tell us the straight dope this time.

Speaking of dopes – his son wants to have a debate with Hunter Biden. Oh boy. Get the pop corn.

Angel Merkel says that she expects Germany to have a rate of infection of 60-70%.

The NCAA has said March Madness will be held without fans this year.

And Spike Lee is done for this year with the Knicks. Apparently, the owner has told him he can’t use the door he’s always used to come to the game. The door isn’t the usual fan door, if I understand it correctly. To which I say, “So What?” The guy has spent over $25,000,000.00 on tickets to the Knicks, and he’s constantly been seen with Knicks paraphernalia on TV and in the media. Stupid on the owner’s part.

Help Me Jesus

But Stupid is what carries the day.

Day 1148 Once Again I Urge You To Stand With The prez

Day 1148 Once Again I Urge You To Stand With The prez

Tuesday March 10, 2020

236 Days until the election on November 3rd

316 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Oh Boy. Many of the most ardent self righteous “conservative” Republicans are self quarantining. That after one person at CPAC had the virus? What pussies. Don’t they believe the president? That it will go away by miracle?

The only person in the group that isn’t self quarantining is Louie. Go get ‘em Louie! Shake hands, back slap, cough.

Oh, and one of these people shook the president’s hand at CPAC.

I don’t think self quarantine is enough. I think they should  put bags over their heads. Plastic bags. Like you get at the dry cleaners. It will prevent all germs and viruses from getting in. Just a thought.

Also, this virus affects mainly old people. Like 70 something presidential candidates. I think there may be an opening here for Mayor Pete. “Vote foe Me! (Least likely to die from Corona Virus.)”

Meanwhile the president has said we need the wall on our southern border more than ever – to keep the Corona Virus out. Yeah. Nothing like a wall to stop a virus. Good thinking Mr. Trump.

Has anyone started a Corona Virus Twitter account?

Okay. Gotta go. Ya know, I just wish these folks had self quarantined themselves years ago. Think of how much better this world would be without these idiotic blowhards and hypocrites.

Toltec Warriors

Oh wait. Here’s a tweet from account “Covad 19” Sorry, false alarm it’s just some music,

Why, it’s “Bad Boys” slightly modified – “What’s ya gonna do when I come for you?”

Day 1147 Let’s Self Quarantine!

March 9, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird 1 Comment

Monday March 9, 2020

237 Days until the election on November 3rd

317 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

Okay, great news. Ted Cruz is self quarantining himself. I think he and everyone at CPAC and all the folks at Fox News, and all the Republican members of the House and the Senate should do the same.

Saw a piece on 60 Minutes about Fiona Hill. Wow. How diplomatic and positive. One of the chilling things she brought up was that Putin studies everyone he is going to meet and looks for their weaknesses and tries to exploit them. The example she used was how he had his giant Lab wander in when he was meeting with Angel Merkel. She hates dogs.

What chance does Trump stand? None. Zero.

Onto the Corona Virus. Biggest thing that can be done to combat this virus is to know the facts. Not the alternate facts, the real facts. This requires health and political officials telling the truth. What’s the chance Mike Pence or Donald Trump know the facts and can tell the truth? I put it below the chance I give of Donald Trump versus Putin.

Historically one of the things that spread the Influenza Virus of 1918 was The Sedition Act, which made it a crime to say anything negative about the government. Health officials and politicians didn’t say negative things because they could go to jail. Therefore people didn’t know what danger they were in. They congregated, got sick, and died.

Who’s Stupa now?

So let me sum this up as best I can – tell the truth or die.

If you can’t tell the truth you should be quarantined.

There ya go. Simple solutions to complicated problems.
