Day 1136 Coronavirus and the president – Is he gay? (Just asking)

February 27, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird Leave a Comment

Thursday February 27, 2020

248 Days until the election on November 3rd

328 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

The president has told us that the cases of coronavirus in the U.S. are 15 and it’s going to zero pretty soon.

At the same time the president was saying this the CDC said the number of cases is 60 and that it’s going to get worse.

Who ya gonna believe?

It doesn’t matter. If people start getting sick and dying you’ll know the CDC was right.

We also know that Trump gutted the government’s pandemic response team.

Now we’ve got Mike Pence as our point man on this. Trump says it’s because of Mike’s terrific job implementing a health care plan in Indiana. As Donald was announcing this the news reports were reminding us that under Mike’s governorship there was, and I quote, “a completely preventable outbreak of HIV” in Indiana. Hum.

Now I know Mike and his minions have been busy hollowing out HHS for women’s reproductive rights, and given Mike’s reported outlook on gay people I’m sure he regards AIDS as a “gay disease” and therefore was ignored in Indiana.

Every reporter I heard yesterday when asking a health official what the most important thing the government can do in response to this disease said, “Tell the truth.”

Well, that ain’t gonna happen, because Donald Trump has no idea what the truth is.

Our Pink Pres

But I’d like to bring up another point. Did you notice that Donald was wearing a pink tie at his press conference? Did you also notice that the tie matched his eye shadow? And his lips? So the question is, “Does this president wear pink eye shadow and pink lipstick?” I think not. And I being a patriot (not that that has anything to do with this) think that he does not (I repeat.)

I think the president’s pink eyelids and pink lips come naturally to him. Maybe he’s gay. Maybe he’s a drag queen and is wearing pink eyeshadow and pink lipstick and forgot to wipe it off before going in front of the cameras. If that is the case, at least he got out of the pink tutu. We could ask Mike Pence for clarification because Mike is frequently seen close to the president, but unfortunately the only side of the president that Mike is familiar with is the president’s backside (right rear to be specific.) Now if Mike has been kissing the president’s ass, as has been alleged then maybe he’s seen the president’s sphincter and maybe that is pink as well.

However, I believe the president and his vice president are entitled to some privacy. Whatever Mike is doing at the daily luncheons with the Donald are between him and the president.

Now on to some really really strange stuff. The president had two people speak at his press conference who knew what they were talking about. Personally, I don’t expect this very often, if ever again. Well, I don’t expect the president to hold another press conference either. Actually, it’s been a relief not to hear some poor slob having to make stuff up to cover for Donald, only to be contradicted the next day by the president, and then have to explain that away. In other words, why cover bull shit with bull shit about bull shit? We’ve cut out the middle man (or person) and are now getting the bullshit straight from the horse’s mouth. (Think about that bullshit from a horse.)

The two people who actually told us something useful were from the CDC. One said the virus was going to spread and the other said a vaccine was a year to a year and a half away.

This was quickly wiped away by the president who said we’d have a vaccine soon. Based on what? Based on bullshit. This guy can’t even listen to his own press conference and relay what is being said.

In other stunning news the HHS secretary Azar, I think that’s what he’s head of – who cares? Thought that he was the point person on the virus, until moments before the president said it was Mikey-poo. Imagine that! Personally, I bet he didn’t know until the president announced it at the podium.

The president then took to twitter to attack the judge and specific jurors in the Roger Stone case. He also attacked a hitherto unknown television channel MSDNC.

So to recap:

The coronavirus is contained here in the U.S.

Get ready for the coronavirus to spread like wildfire here and around the world.

There will be a vaccine for it shortly.

The vaccine, if there is one, is at least a year out. Probably a year and a half out.

We have a crack team on the case.

We have a team on crack on the case.

No one is gong to die.

We’re all gonna die.

The president is gay.

Just sayin’

Day 1135 What Bernie is Offering

February 26, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird Leave a Comment

Wednesday February 26, 2020

249 Days until the election on November 3rd

329 Days until the Inauguration on January 20, 2021

The moment of truth is nigh. For decades Bernie has been saying the same thing. The question now is “Do You Want It?”

Affordable health care, Affordable education, Good jobs, a Living wage.

That’s what he’s suggesting we as a country do.

The neigh sayers are screaming “Socialist.” We crossed that bridge a long time ago. The question is< “Do you want the government to regulate capitalist enterprises so they can’t gouge the shit out of you?”

Socialism in the sense that Bernie is talking about is using our tax dollars to help us. The “capitalists” who are lobbying our government all the time are really socialists. Socialists for themselves. In other words they want the government to either give them money or not tax them or to let them have special exemptions and privilege.

The fear that the pundit have is that he, Bernie, can’t pull it off. The politicians are screaming he’s too far left. He ain’t left. Since the 1980s the conservatives have been moving the frame of our political discourse to the right. What Bernie is trying to do is move us back to the center, to reality.

Bernie isn’t my first choice, but he’s posing a question that is hard to ignore. It is before us and the question now is, “Will we help ourselves?”

Not that it has anything to do with the subject at hand, but it’s really cool.

New Day 1134 This Can’t Be Happening. But It IS!

February 25, 2020 by Rick Kinnaird 3 Comments

New Day 1134 This Can’t Be Happening. But It IS!
Tuesday February 25, 2020
250 Days until the election on November 3rd
330 Days until the election on January 20, 2021

There’s a joke in the computing community about a programmer looking at their output saying, “This can’t be happening.”
The point being – that it is happening.

Bernie has won every Democratic primary and caucus so far and the pundits and the democratic establishment are saying, “This can’t be happening.” But it is.
Last night in a round table discussion of punditry, the old pundits trotted out the arguments as to why this wasn’t really happening and one of the young people at the table said, “The people who said that are the same people who said Biden was unstoppable.”
The day before the Nevada caucus the pundits were saying that the health care workers union members wanted to keep their health care plan and wouldn’t vote for Bernie who wants to replace it with Medicare For All. They voted for Bernie in overwhelming numbers.
When asked members said that yeah, they like their health care but what if they lose their job? What then? And what about their friends and family members not in the union, who don’t have access to the health care plan they have?
Biden says Bernie can beat Trump but he won’t help folks running in red states win Senate races.
Socialism being the bug-a-boo word.
Whoa – evil socialism.
The Republicans trot out the soviet style pictures of socialist republics and their ilk and try to imply that is what Bernie wants. Of course, if you’ve listen to Bernie at all in the last forty years you realize that is not what he is saying. But why let facts get in the way?
My friend dean who likes a guy who has a big red bushy beard and does videos in his woodshed about politics says that the problem with the Democratic establishment is that they have stopped listening to their constituents and instead are listening to pundits.
Now the pundits and the never Bernie folks are pushing the fact that he mentioned Castro put in a literacy program in Cuba and Bernie asked, “Is that so bad?” OMG! Heads exploding.
Bernie has also said that he’s a Democratic Socialist, which means he believes in taxes to be used to help people. Instead of a brand of Capitalism that says, “If you can make a buck by screwing over people that’s a good thing.”
He says< “Health care for all.” The pundits say it will cost trillions. What they don’t say is that the overall expense is cheaper than if you go the route we are going now. They say it will lose jobs. Yeah, all the lobbyists and paper shufflers will be out of a job. Cry me a river.

So what’s happening? Bernie has been advocating for a revolution for decades and now it’s here and the establishment is worried, and rightly so, because like Joe Biden they will be swept away.

Maybe, we need a more moderate candidate, like Pete or Amy? Hum, we tried that before, remember? How’d that work out?

Oh we can’t win in red states with Bernie you say. Really? Hum, I’ll bet if you go into those states and say, “Everyone gets health care and we’ll get rid of the tariffs and help you reclaim the markets that Trump took away. I’m guessing those farmers and those left behind aren’t going to care what you call it. Remember in Kentucky when the Russians came in and said they were putting a plant in there? No one was yelling, “Communists!” Especially not Moscow Mitch who has never done a thing to help those people in his state.

Yeah, it’s a leap. You’ll have to think. You’ll have to ask yourself, “Is it time?” Or do you want to say, “Ah Gee, I wish …” Stop wishing. The time for that is over. Start making it happen.

New Day 1132 Huge Opportunity – Make Big Money!

New Day 1132 Huge Opportunity – Make Big Money!

Sunday February 23, 2020

252 Days until the election on November 3rd

332 Days until the election on January 20, 2021

In my screed of Feb 21st I asked:

Will there be anything left of our government?

The answer to that boys and girls is NO!

To quote Mic Mulvaney, “Get over it.”

But from the ashes of what was our democracy arrises an opportunity. An opportunity so big that I can’t believe I am telling you about it for it is only for the quick and the nimble who wish to get in on the ground floor. This is better than buying Amazon at $1,000.00!

If you’ve been following the news than you’ve heard about the President’s fundraiser where in one night he raised ten million dollars. (Attention Fox News watchers – The president had a fundraiser where he raised ten million dollars. This is a fact.)

Three days later Mike Milken got a pardon. Why? Because the person giving the fundraiser asked Trump to do it.

Maybe you need a refresher as to who Miliken is/was. He’s “The Junk Bond King.” He was indicted for racketeering and securities fraud in relation to insider trading. He plead guilty to a slightly lesser charge and didn’t have to admit to the racketeering charge. In other words (Listen up Fox viewers!) He’s dirty. About as dirty as they come.

Trump pardoned him, and as I said the guy throwing the big fundraiser where normally a couple has to pay 50 grand to get in, but in this case the price tag was 500 big ones for seats at table (That’s $500,000 Fox viewers. This is a fact.)

So who was throwing the fundraiser? Nelson Peltz. Peltz made tons of money with Milken. The articles refer to Peltz as “an activist investor.” That means he holds up and blackmails companies, drains them of their assets and sell off the company loaded in debt. You know, like what Mitt Romney did, but on a bigger scale. This is called good business now.

If you aren’t familiar with junk bond investing it means you sell bonds with a high payback but on very risky investments. “Listen I’ll give you back 15% if everything works out.” This is followed by “Sorry everything didn’t work out.”

Junk bonds are combined with another technique which I don’t know the name of but is “Once we take over your company we’ll have all your assets so we’ll just put them down on our balance sheet now so we can get a big junk bond loan okay?” This was the technique used by the non-profit to steal the art work from the Barnes Foundation. They claimed to have over a billion dollars in assets when in fact they had very little, but hey, the governor signed off on it so it’s okey-dokey.

Okay enough history. Now for the big opportunity. With the Trump era comes opportunity. Trump is now selling pardons and for those who act fast there is money to be made. Current price is $10 million in a fundraiser. Plus a few million upfront to get his attention. Going price for couples to attend is $500M.

Have you heard of political fundraisers called “consolidators”? Yeah, they get a bunch of money from lots of people and give it in one chunk. That’s called consolidation. Political funding consolidation.

I want to be a consolidator, but of pardons! I want to be the King of Pardons! I want to combine some of the best (read “worst”) business practices in this new business venture. As King of Pardons I will be dispensing knighthoods and principalities. You can buy a sales area to work for pardons or you can give a chunk of money to me and become a Prince of Pardons.

There are only so many evenings in a year, and only so many fundraisers a president can attend so time is money. Those with the most money have the best access. Drug kingpin? Pardoned. Dirty Money Man? Pardoned. Insider Trading? Pardoned.

It’s all here in my new book, “How to Buy a Pardon.” Only $29,999,99 order today.

But only for a limited time and only available to high net worth individuals with the savvy!

252 Days until the election on November 3rd

332 Days until the election on January 20, 2021

Whoa Nellie! Hold on. I’m … !

PS Ancient Hindu sculpture illustrating what Trump is doing to the U.S. and how some are hiding their eyes.

(For those having trouble with analogy: the horse would be the United States, the man behind the horse is Trump (but in fairness to the man in the sculpture Trump has tiny hands so it is doubtful that his equipment is on a par with the sculptured figure), the woman who is hiding her eyes would be Fox viewers and Republican Senators.

New Day 1130 OMG! omg, omg, omg What’s Happened to Us?

New Day 1130 OMG! omg, omg, omg What’s Happened to Us?

Friday February 21, 2020

254 Days until the election on November 3rd

334 Days until the election on January 20, 2021

Will there be anything left of our government?

As many of you know I’ve been on a trip to Northern India and reporting has been sporadic. I came home sick, once again, and am finally on the mend. I’m not back in this timezone yet, but I’m working on it. BTW I didn’t realize that India is ten and a half hours different than east coast time. A little fact I failed to realize while there. Why? The country would have been split between two time zones and rather than do that they decided to split the difference and have everyone on the same timezone.

Okay. since the last Trumpican countdown report the president has been acquitted of impeachment charges. The senators who voted to acquit can know that on the headline of their obituary that little fact will be noted. (It was with every Senator that voted to acquit Nixon.)

Trump then went after anyone he deemed to have not been fully behind him. Firing them.

He’s now fired the head of all the intelligence agencies and replaced him with a stooge of his liking. A guy with no experience in this area. Why was the previous guy fired? Trump didn’t like the facts that he reported. The facts are that Russia is interfering in our 2020 election to help Trump. Why not? We’ve done nothing to protect ourselves. Kick us in the balls please. In fact, don’t you do it; we’ll let Moscow Mitch do it.

There’s a stack of legislation about three feet high that McConnell now proudly displays as bills from the House that he had done NOTHING about. Meanwhile he’s been busy ramming through as many unqualified judges as possible.

Trump’s been busy too. He’s turning over as much public land as possible for drilling and development. He’s lowered the standards on pork inspections. Changed the standards on vehicle mileage. Gone after sanctuary cities by banning the use of global entry at those places. He has installed some of the most odious unqualified people at all levels of government. The guy in charge of the global entry stuff is Ken Cuccinelli. He was in Virginia politics before this gig. He’s a big right to lifer, forcing women to keep unwanted pregnancies and siting the Bible and crap for his mean spiritedness. My one regret on him was when we went to a Squirrels’ baseball game in Richmond and they announced Ken was there (that I didn’t quite hear it) – I would have stood up and booed.

Now William Barr has done so much terrible stuff that over 2,000 former Justice officials have signed a letter calling for his resignation. I mean what did anyone expect? His letter asking for the job said he believed in being a lap dog.

Speaking of lap dogs did you like Elizabeth Warren’s comment when asked who she was going to find to look at her adoringly like Mike Pence does of Trump? She said, “I already have a dog.” Love it.

And then the other night at the debate? Wow. She came out swinging.

Saying that Mike Bloomberg called women “horse faced lesbians” and “fat broads.”  In fairness to Mike, the reference to “horse faced lesbians” was apparently talking about Princess Margaret who is rather horse faced but nothing compared to Charles’ choice of Camilla. Whether Margaret is a lesbian, I don’t know. I do know that it has been reported that her table manners are revolting.

Speaking of which Emily Post’s great-great-grandchildren are coming out with a new book on etiquette. I may buy a dozen copies. Boy do we need manners, etiquette and polite restraint.

On to the Democratic debate in Nevada, which was the first one worth a hoot. Warren, as I said, landed some big blows on several people. I liked Amy’s response to Warren’s Post-it note comment about Klobachar’s health care plan. “You know the Post-it note was invented in my state.”

But in fairness to Any, if her health care plan is to expand Obama-Care to what it was originally meant to be (before Barrack made changes to pacify Republicans who didn’t vote for it anyway) than one sentence will do. That’s Joe’s plan too. And Warren’s to some degree. Bernie made a strong point to the question “Why can’t they keep their existing plan” which was “I’ll give you something better.” Bernie’s central argument, which is never really stated centers around the history of health care in this country. After WWII Truman tried to pass universal health care and failed. Instead he went with the Republican plan of letting employers offer health care. This led to the mess we have today, which was modified by Nixon to allow more middle managers in between to gum up the works and take money for themselves.

Britain on the other hand went for a universal plan, as did Canada. Both have been criticized by the Republicans and the right wing nuts in this country, and the insurance industry. However, the arguments they make don’t stand up to the facts. Their points are either minor or out
right lies. Are there wait times for some procedures? Yes, voluntary ones that aren’t life threatening. When I’ve talked to people I know in Canada about their system, and I’ve done it a number of times over the years, they have no idea what I am talking about when I ask about such things as wait times etc. It just isn’t a factor. Same in Britain. A number  of years ago a study was done to see how well doctors in Britain and the U.S. used stethoscopes. Turns out U.S. docs aren’t very good, while their British counterparts are.  So what? You might ask. Well, in the U.S. a doctor will order up an expensive test rather than trust his judgement and the potential of being sued. So what’s cheaper: a doctor listening to you breath or going for an MRI or Cat Scan?

Bernie’s plan is basically – More, Better, Cheaper. There’s lots of yelling about 35 trillion dollars, which it might cost, but that is much cheaper than the alternatives when you consider all the costs that it would be replacing. But like gun safety – every other nation in the world has figured it out, but we can’t seem to be able to.

Ah me.

334 Days until the election on January 20, 2021

PS A picture of me at the Taj Mahal. This is 98 years after Richard Halliburton stood where I did. Were there other people around? Yeah. But when you hire one of the local pros they yell at everyone to get out of the shot.

Money well spent.
